European Dragon Boat Championship Sean Corr went to Prague to represent Great Britain. He returned with a fantastic haul of 3 Silver medals. Well done Sean. Herts Development Meet Ella Rowley despite feeling unwell came home first in the Girls 11 years Breaststroke. Unfortunately Ella and Laura Coffey swam too fast to win any more medals. There were other good swims from Amy Noble and Abigail Fraser. The O2 Community Awards Tom Brennan was selected as a finalist in the O2 fit for life awards and as a result earned the club some money which will be used to create two new ‘Fit for Life’ perpetual trophies starting in 2006. Quasar Emma Lloyd put in a lot of work to ensure this occasion, primarily for the Peanuts squad, went very smoothly and was enjoyed by all who attended (including the older swimmers). The unrivalled hot shot that Saturday was definitely William Needham being the Top Gun in both games. |

More Officials |
|
Parents are reminded that their help on poolside is encouraged; especially for home Galas, time trials and Club Championships. We need officials to make these events happen. We are short of judges, timekeepers, starters, announcers, and poolside assistance and rely on the same faces time and again to ensure this events can take place. |

Lifesaving |
|
Always a useful skill to have - includes first aid skills as well as swimming. Don't forget the lifesaving section of the club meets 8pm on a Tuesday at Monks Walk pool - for more information on how to join this session contact Brian Booth on Tel no 01438 820666. |

Our recent development of the Rookie section has already shown success with the first badges already successfully completed. Is there anyone who would like to help the Platypus club at Hatfield ? They have approached our club as they are desperate for helpers. This is a club for the disadvantaged. |

Open Meets There are several open meets happening shortly and closing dates are approaching fast. |

You need to be ASA registered to take part. |

Time trials On Saturday 26th January at Hitchin Swim Centre, 18:30 warm-up for 18:45 start. Entry forms to be sent to Stuart Clewlow or info@welwyngardenswimmingclub.fsnet.co.uk by 17th January. NO LATE ENTRIES ON THE NIGHT New Teachers |
|
In 2006 Bruce Burtenshaw and Ian Clements stopped teaching on a regular basis hence we need to encourage more people to come forward to assist with the teaching. We have a lot of teachers who have spent many years training our children. Many of who no longer have children of their own in the swimming club. We cannot expect these kind people to continue indefinitely. If you are interested in becoming a teacher, please contact Derek Milton, who will be able to tell you the dates of the next course, and what is involved. |
